Who is responsible

AutomateiQ, based in Centurion, Gauteng, is responsible for the personal information described here. For anything about your information, including a request under POPIA, email our information officer at [email protected].

What we collect

When you send the contact form

• Your name and email address, which you must give so we can answer you.
• If you choose to give them: your business name, your phone number and what your enquiry is about.
• Your message.

What you send through the form is stored with our enquiries, where we answer it, and we get an email about it.

When you email or WhatsApp us

Your number or email address, and what you send us.

When you become a client

What we need to do the work and bill you: your business details, and the words, photos and files you send us for your website or design.

When you visit the website

Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs of each visit: your IP address, your browser and the pages you open. We also use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read; it sets cookies in your browser for that. This website sets no advertising cookies.

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry and, if you ask, to give you a quote.
• If you become a client, to do the work you ordered, keep in touch about it and bill you.
• To keep the website secure and find faults (the server logs).
• To see how the website is used, so we can improve it (Google Analytics).

We do not send marketing to someone who only made an enquiry. If you are a client, we may tell you about our own similar services, and you can stop that at any time by letting us know.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information or give it to anyone for their own marketing. We share it only:

• with the people who answer enquiries and do the work for us;
• with our hosting and email providers. This website, and what you send through it, is stored on servers in France, with backups in Ireland; our email is on servers in the United Kingdom. The European Union and the United Kingdom have data protection law of a similar standard to POPIA;
• with Google, which runs our website analytics for us on its servers, which may be outside South Africa;
• if you become a client, with the services we use to invoice you and receive your payment;
• where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep an enquiry for as long as we need it to answer you and follow up. If you become a client, we keep your information while we work for you, and afterwards only for as long as the law requires us to keep business records. Server logs are kept for a short time and then deleted.

How we protect it

The website and the contact form use an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, our mailboxes are password protected, and only the people who need your information to answer you or do your work can see it.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

• ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it;
• ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date;
• ask us to delete it, where we no longer need it or have no right to keep it;
• object to how we use it, and stop any marketing from us at any time.
